Rome Christmas Events – If you planned a trip to Rome in December you are going to experience the magic of Christmas time. Rome is the best Italy’s holiday destination with its enchanting Christmas window decorations, its holiday lights and its various attractions and activities. From mid December  until the Epiphany, in Rome is a great time to visit Navona Square and its Christmas Market, a must attraction for both locals and tourists, adults and children.

There are hundreds of stands where you can buy candies, sweets, toys, chestnuts, crafts, candy floss and any kind of gift. This Christmas market is focused on the figure of the witch. From Navona Square you can easily reach another amazing Christmas attraction: a big tree in the center of St. Peter’s Square and a life-size nativity. On December 25th at noon the Pope blesses the audience standing in the Square whereas on the same day at midnight the Holy Father says midnight mass inside Saint Peter’s Basilica. the mass is also shown on big screens in the square.

In December the Auditorium Parco della Musica becomes a village with a Christmas market, a skating rink, a playground a book store and many wine bars for breakfast, cappuccino, aperitivo or a full meal.

Rome Film Festival: the 9th edition will take place as usual in Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the building complex designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano.

All the spaces in the Auditorium, for a total capacity of four thousand seats, will be open for the Festival. Thus, from October 16 to 25, 2014,  the Auditorium and his large red carpet, will be the centre of attraction for professionals, journalists, and film buffs, hosting screenings, exhibitions, events, conferences, debates.

The audience of the Rome Film Festival will have a choice of seven movie theaters. Next to the Auditorium, the Cinema Village will feature pavilions and stands made of steel, glass, and wood, created specifically for this event and its visitors. The Festival programme will also involve the area of Via Veneto, one of the most famous, elegant and expensive streets of Rome very famous after the Fellini’s movie “La Dolce Vita”.

The panels will be held at the Casa del Cinema in the Villa Borghese Park and at the MAXXI. Professional and institutional conferences will take place at the AuditoriumArte.

The Official Selection of the Rome Film Festival consists in four sections: Cinema d’Oggi (Cinema Today) will present films by both young and well-known authors:

  • Gala will select the season’s great “popular but original” films
  • Mondo Genere (Genre World) will be a collection of films from various film genres
  • Prospettive Italia will present a survey of the latest trends in Italian fiction films and documentaries.

The parallel and independent sidebar Alice nella città will present a selection of youth-oriented films, following its own regulations.

The Rome International Film Market – The Business Street and New Cinema Network – will be held from October 17 to 21, 2014. New Cinema Network (NCN) is the Rome Film Festival’s co-production market, and will be the place where the most interesting international talents on the film scene today will find the ideal platform for presenting their new projects and getting in touch with the European film industry’s major players.
